You Don't Have to Suffer from Chronic Anxiety or Panic
Attacks.
Anxiety is a normal reaction to stress and it also helps you cope in tense
situations. There are treatment options and much
you can do to help yourself.
Everyone has anxiety from time to time and we all get sweaty palms or butterflies in our
stomach in certain situations. Who isn't nervous before a job interview or a first date? Who hasn't felt their
heart pounding in their chest or hands shake before giving a speech? These feelings of anxiety are a normal
reaction to stress and are just a part of life.
Anxiety (like all emotions) has a purpose and can help you. A little anxiety can help you deal
with a tense situation like focusing on a speech that you are about to give, studying harder for an exam, or
staying interesting on your first date to make it to the second, and even avoiding danger. In general, anxiety is a
normal response to a new situation.
It only becomes a problem when your anxious response is severe and prevents you from doing your
best, or worse, causes you to avoid the situation altogether. For some, it elevates to excessive, irrational fear
of everyday situations and can become an immobilizing fear that interferes with their lives.
Anxiety becomes an anxiety disorder when your fear becomes severe and you avoid normal
everyday situations which then prevents you from enjoying your life.
Anxiety disorders can worsen over time if not treated and
can become quite debilitating...
Fortunately, there is much you can do to and many treatment options for anxiety disorders. Many people with severe
anxiety disorders have conquered their fears and returned to normal, happy and productive lives.
There is no reason that anyone has to suffer
from an anxiety disorder.
There are five major types of anxiety disorders:
- general anxiety disorder
- obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- panics disorder (panic attacks)
- post traumatic disorder (PST)
- specific phobias
- social phobia or social anxiety disorder
Each of the anxiety disorder has different symptoms, but all the symptoms come together around excessive
and irrational fear or dread.
If you think you have anxiety disorder, don’t hesitate to seek information about it and find treatment
right away before it gets into you. There are effective therapies out there and recent research reveals new
treatments that can help most people with this condition lead happy and fulfilling lives.
